“For adopting singles or adopting families”

Reviewed August 23, 2012

I had the pleasure of staying at Kefetew Guesthouse for about a month while my adoption process was finalized. My daughter and I were welcomed into a safe, loving, caring, clean and spacious home and truly has become our second home. Genet and her staff were genuinely caring and helpful in every way. Her guesthouse became our haven with the large living room, dining room, kitchen to prepare the baby food, beautiful veranda to relax, and large bedrooms and bathrooms. The free internet and cable TV also helped keep in touch with the world. Genet's breakfasts with her homemade bread and her healing foods were a delight to savour. I had stayed at other guesthouses but this one is truly in a league of its own!

“An African gem - a very special place”

Reviewed September 7, 2012

Kefetew is special - a mix of a boutique hotel and a warmly welcoming guesthouse. The large open plan lounge/dining room, full of light, is inspired by Californian design where Genet, the owner of Kefetew, lived for many years. But it is also very Ethiopian. In the morning a mist of frankincense mingles with the aroma of roasting coffee beans. coffee is served with a sprig of roux (?) a herb grown in the garden. I have now switched to drinking tea because no other cup of coffee tastes so good! The breakfast of home baked bread, oatmeal, eggs & fruit is substantial. At lunchtime Genet will serve Ethiopian dishes with her own touch - layers of flavours, not too heavy or oily, plenty of vegetables. Delicious. The bedrooms, bathrooms, linens and towels are spotlessy clean .Genet's team are very welcoming & efficient, there is always someone on hand to help. There is cable tv & wifi which is on/off depending on how the internet network is doing that day.  It's a great place for kids who are welcomed into a safe and loving home-from-home. There is a crib for babies and you can use the spotlessly clean kitchen to prepare bottles & food.

“Home Sweet and Beautiful Home”

May 18, 2012

NEW Beautiful hardly describes the elegant and warm ambiance of Genet, her staff and Kefetew Guest House. This is someplace you will want to keep coming back to, that is, if you don't end up staying there. From her open armed welcome of our group at the airport to her send-off with a homemade huge loaf of delicious St. Mary's Day Bread, it was all bliss. Genet knows just about everybody in Addis (when I accidentally left my card in an atm machine she actually helped me retrieve it because she knew the bank manager!!) and she accommodated both our touristy and couch potato whims. She is full of life, and the vibrant colors and sooooooo extra delicious breakfasts and snacks were the perfect complement to our journey. Amesegenallahu Genet!!!
